Hi I’m Holly and welcome to the Holiad!
I created this blog after being inspired to travel by my best friend who I went interrailing with in 2015, after graduating from university I decided to travel solo, and headed to the other side of the world by myself!
Here you can read all about my adventures in Australia, the good, the bad, the ugly and all the time I spent in the outback – I was out bush for a LONG time. My outback adventure began with me being the shortest barmaid in Winton and ended with becoming a mother to two adorable goats, Kelso and Kermit. I couldn’t bring them back with me, and I now know way more about animals than I ever thought I would..
Prior to travelling I studied Classical Studies (Ancient History) at university, and whilst on the road I found myself hanging out in museums, and then writing about the museums I visited. This led me to consider pursuing a career in the Museum industry as history is and always will be my first love.
Currently I am studying a Masters in Museum Studies at UvA, starting afresh in Europe in another country I know hardly anything about. I started the Holiad as an outlet for my stories as I make my own path, and as I cycle wobbly around Amsterdam I’d like to invite you along on the ride as I try to doe normaal.
Vooruit met de geit!
